Bicycle Accident Kills Bicyclist In Melbourne

According to the Florida Today newspaper, a Melbourne man on a bicycle was killed after a collision with a Florida Power and Light (FPL) bucket truck on Monday, March 4, 2013. The bicycle accident occurred near Eau Gallie Boulevard and John Rodes Boulevard in Melbourne, Florida.

Investigators believe the 55 year old bicylist was riding westbound on the south sidewalk of Eau Gallie Bouelvard and the FPL truck was turning right from northbound John Rodes Boulevard. As the FPL truck turned to head east on Eau Gallie Boulevard, the bicylist entered the intersection in front of the truck and the FPL truck struck the bicyclist. Evidently, the bicyclist went under the truck and was killed. Traffic in the area of this fatal car accident was effected for hours.
