Wrong Way Driver Killed In Titusville Car Crash
According to the Florida Today newspaper, a 39 year old man was killed following a car accident in the early morning hours of Monday, October 24, 2011 on State Road 50 in Titusville, Florida. The 39 year old Orlando man, operating a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse, was reportedly traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when he collided head-on with a tractor trailer. The 39 year old man was transported to Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, Florida where he died a short time later. The driver of the tractor trailer did not sustain any personal injuries. The fatal crash occurred at about 4:45 a.m. near the intersection of State Road 50 (Cheney Highway) and Hacienda Drive about 3 miles west of I-95. Prior to the crash, FHP had received calls about a reckless driver that matched the description of the decedent's Mitusbishi. Although the 39 year old man was found to be wearing his seatbelt, he died from what was described as multiple traumatic injuries. It is unknown whether alcohol played a role in this car crash.
