23 Yr Old Woman Hit By Car Exiting Police Cruiser

According to the Florida Today newspaper, a 23-year-old woman was critically injured on Thursday, November 10, 2011 when a car crashed into her as she was exiting a police vehicle. The car accident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. The woman's car broke down near the intersection of Island Avenue and Emerson Drive NW. A police officer passing by noticed the woman walking down the road and stopped to give her a ride back to her disabled vehicle. As the police officer and the woman exited the police cruiser, a 2000 Buick, being driven by a 39 year old Palm Bay, Florida man, veered off the road into the grassy shoulder and struck the 23 year old woman. It was thought that the driver of the Buick fell asleep. The 23 year old woman was transported from the scene of this car accident to Holmes Regional Medical Center via helicopter. The woman sustained serious personal injuries as a result of this car crash.
