Common Insurance Company Delay Tactics

If you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident or have occasion to deal with an insurance company and/or its adjusters, be prepared for the DDD approach to claims adjusting . . . Delay, Deny, Defend!

Insurance company adjusters are well-trained professionals.  Their jobs are to handle claims in a fashion most favorable to their insureds and to the insurance company they work for.  In essence, they want to resolve claims as quickly as possible and for the least amount of money possible.

One tactic they employ regularly that greatly frustrates the process is to delay.  When you have been in an accident, things need to move swiftly such as getting the insurance company to look at your car to see about getting it repaired; getting a rental car lined up at the expense of the person's insurance company who caused the accident, etc.  Insurance companies will often stall the process by stating things like:  "we have not accepted liability on behalf of our insured"; "we have not had an opportunity to have your car looked at yet"; "we have not interviewed our insured yet to get their version of how this accidnet happened"; "you should have your own insurance company fix your car"; "you have a duty to mitigate your damages", etc.

All of these types of responses are tactics employed to delay getting your car fixed and getting you the rental car you are entitled to.  If you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident, do not try to deal with the insurance companies alone in the handling of your property damage claim or your injury claim.  Contact our firm today for a free consultation and let us deal with the insurance companies on your behalf.
