Motorcycle Rider Killed in U.S. 1 Accident
According to the Florida Today Newspaper on July 25, 2011, a crash between a motorcycle and a mowing tractor killed the motorcyclist on U.S. 1 in Melbourne, Florida near Parkway Road. The crash happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. Evidently, the motorcyclist was northbound on U.S. 1 at a high rate of speed when he went to pass the tractor. The motorcyclist swerved but he was unable to avoid crashing into the rear of the mowing tractor. The motorcyclist ended up crossing over the concrete median and hitting the southbound U.S. 1 pavement. The rider of the motorcycle was a 19 year old Melbourne man. The motorcyclist was declared dead after being taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.
