According to the Florida Today newspaper, a fatal car accident on I-95 occurred on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 around 5:00 a.m. just south of Wickham Road in Melbourne, Florida. Both tractor trailers sustained heavy damage as a result of the accident. Diesel fuel was also spilled on the roadway. The diesel spill required quite a bit of clean up including remilling and repaving sections of the road the diesel fuel damaged. Authorities reopened two of the three southbound lanes of I-95 around 11 a.m. The far left lane remained closed overnight. The Jacksonville truck driver was killed in the accident. The driver of the other tractor trailer was not injured in the accident. Both truck drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
