Early Morning Crash on Pineda Causeway Snarls Traffic

A 58 year old Satellite Beach man was severely injured when he was rearended by a SUV on the Pineda Causeway at approximately 7:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011. The Satellite Beach man was riding a scooter in the right lane when he was rear ended by the SUV. The accident closed westbound Pineda Causeway for approximately 90 minutes. Traffic was re-routed to South Tropical Trail and to A1A.

The only injury reported was to the rider of the scooter. The unconscious Satellite Beach man was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida for his injuries. As of Thursday evening, the man remained in critical condition.
